Lanzarote Airport is also known as “Aeropuerto de Lanzarote” in Spanish, the Lanzarote airport is the 10th busiest airport located in Spain.
The airport is located between San Bartolome and Tias and has seen a remarkable influx of both aircraft as well as passengers over the last few years and is mostly popular amongst tourists from Great Britain and Germany.
It is estimated that in the year 2008 over 5.4 million passengers and 54,000 flights were handled at this airport. The airport also receives several flights from other cities in Spain. Though there are flights on almost all the days of the calendar, the most common day for the tourists coming and leaving is Thursday. The airport has 2 terminals of which one is used f or international flights while the other is used for domestic flights.
The Lanzarote taxi service is located outside the arrivals terminal. It is believed that the standard of a taxi is very clean and the drivers take every opportunity to have their taxis cleaned. On an average, since a taxi carries up to 4 passengers including children, it is prudent to hire a private Lanzarote Transfer cab. Disabled passengers can even book a private transfer or a taxi in advance.
There are no train services from the Lanzarote airport, but car rental from Lanzarote airport is cheap and recommended.
The Lanzarote airport buses leaves from directly outside the arrival terminals. An average journey between the airport and the capital Arrecife is 5 kms and takes 15-25 minutes. The bus service to Arrecife and is well connected to outgoing destinations like Maguez,Puerto del Carmen, Orzola, Femes, Los Valles, Conil, Montana Blanc, Tequise, La Asomada, San Bartolome, Tias and Puente Mujeres. Unfortunately, if you are in a hurry or need to get to your destination within a limited time, it is recommended not to opt for the taxi service or personal car hire.
The Lanzarote airport parking is located directly opposite the terminals and is quite cheap. The 2 car parks are unfortunately quite small and can accommodate only around 1250 private cars, 400 rental cars and 50 buses. The parking charge for the first 30 minutes is free after which one is charged on a hourly calculation.
