Tenerife has two airports, one located at the north of Tenerife and the other is in Tenerife South.
The airport situated at the North is also knows as the Los Rodeos airport. The north airport is not all that well known and is hardly used by travellers from other counties.
However in 2008 the airport had over 4.2 million passengers and also handled 67,796 flights. These figures keep rising every year also because there is an inter island flight hall that has been introduced that has helped transform the airport as the main airport hub for inter island flights in the Canary Islands. The Spanish name for the airport is Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte.
On the outside of the main terminal building is where the taxi ranks are located. The taxi service includes the airport supplement fare. There are three fares that are charged, Fare 1 is charged between 6:00 am to 10:00 pm on all working days. Fare 2 is chargeable from 10:00pm to 6:00 am on all working days in addition to day holidays.
There are no train services from the Tenerife North Airport but prices for car rental at Tenerife North airport are competitive.
The islands bus service from the airport is really dependable and has connectivity to almost all of the resorts in the island. There are 4 lines that one can choose from the Tenerife North Airport. These buses leave from outside of the arrivals area of the terminal.
You can get the latest information on tariffs and bus timetables from the website of the local bus company. The private Airport Transfer is also available on prior booking, and the transport will be waiting at the arrivals area.
The parking area at the airport has 876 parking spaces that are reserved for their visitors. Another 250 car parking spaces are kept for the different car hire companies. Opposite the terminal is where the parking area is located. The parking space is reserved on the three levels of the building and out of which two levels are covered car parking spaces.
The private vehicles have cash machines, where they can pay off their tariffs. There are no charges for the first half hour, a fee is charged only from the second half hour.
