Towards the north eastern coast of Spain, in the region of Galicia, lies the tourist destination of Vigo.
From the city centre the distance to the Vigo airport is merely 9kms while from the city of Pontevedra the distance is 28 kms. In the year 1995 the airport handled only 391,000 travellers which increased considerably over the years.
In 2008 the Vigo airport handled approximately 1,278,762 passengers and the number of flights handled was 17,934. There are no direct international flights that are handled at the Vigo airport. The travellers that land on the airport are those mainly travelling via internal flights like Spanair and Iberia, who are the main flight operators at the airport.
Outside the terminal building of the Vigo airport is where the taxi ranks are situated. You can check for taxi fares from the airport to your destination which could be in any of the towns. You can also call the telephone number to get information regarding other details and fares. Another viable option available is hiring the private airport transfer. The shuttle will collect you once you reach the arrivals and will take you to your destination.
There are no train services from the Vigo airport.
Next to the arrivals gate is where the bus stop is located. The bus services are cheap and affordable by all, and are a good transport means for those who are looking at not spending too much on travelling. The C9A circular line works every working day of the week and travels between the airports to the Plaza America. During weekends and all public holidays the bus travels between the airport and Colon.
The bus runs at every interval of 30 minutes, and begins as early as 6:00 and the last bus is at 23:00. For those travelling through budget flights a new service that plies from the centre of Vigo to Oporto is also available. Monbus is another line from the Vigo airport that travels from the Vigo bus Station to Pontevedra to Sanxenxo to Ogrove.
The airport at Vigo has two parking spaces. P1 is meant for general parking and can accommodate 661 vehicles. The general parking towards the south, P2 has a capacity of 206 vehicles which is spread over two floors; on the lower floor are 107 spaces while the upper floor has 99 parking lots.
