Interestingly, the Zaragoza airport is quite well known for its freight distribution centre as much for its passenger traffic.
Situated around 10 kms south west from the city centre, the Zaragoza airport is run jointly by the civil aviation authorities and the military and has seen a high influx of passengers in the recent times. Due to its central location and catering to at least 20 million people around, the Zaragoza Airport has handled around 6 million passengers and 15,000 flights.
The airport has regular freight flights to Dubai, Shanghai, Moscow, Paris and Johannesburg. These freights are operated by the Emirates, Air Bridge Cargo, Air France and MK Airlines. In order to support the high number of passenger traffic, the airport has recently opened a new swanky terminal which emits an illusion of waves and lights up the passenger area very well.
The taxi service is located right outside the arrival halls. Passengers need not worry if they aren't sure whether they would have a taxi anytime of the day, the taxi drivers are well versed with flight timings and are always around to provide service.
There are no trains that run from the Zaragoza Airport towards the city centre although there is a local cercanias train that goes from Casetas, Miraflores, Utebo, Zaragoza - Delicias and ending at Zaragoza - Portillo.
The bus service is located right outside the terminal building and most of the buses have scheduled their onward journey in tandem with flight arrivals. There are several buses running between the airport and the city centre which leave every half an hour between Mondays and Saturdays and every hour on a Sunday. The buses usually go through Paseo de Pamplona, Plaza de San Francisco, Paseo de Isabel la Catolica, Hispanidad before heading to the airport.
Zaragoza airport has its parking space divided into two sites. While one of the parking sites can accommodate 523 spaces, the second has the provision for 229 vehicles. In spite of the capacity for the two sites differing, the charges are the same. Unlike a few other airports in Spain that do not charge for the first half an hour, the charges are from the very first minute that a vehicle is parked.
